DEPARTMENT OF THE BUDGET FROM PAST TO PRESENT
Budget and Accounting Procedures
Accounting operations of Ege University, established in 1955, were carried out by the Izmir Revenue Office until 1961. Then, in 1961, accounting transactions began to be executed within the University. In this framework, M. Kemal OKTAY, the 2nd Chief of the Izmir Revenue Office, was appointed as the Accounting Manager of Ege University. After that, the Accounting Department, which developed until 1983, was restructured under the E. U. Department of Budget affiliated with the Ministry of Finance according to the Decree-Law No. 178 published in the Republic of Turkey Official Gazette dated 14 December 1983 and numbered 18251 repetitively. As a result of this restructuring, the Department of Budget started to carry out the budget operations besides the accounting transactions.
The Department of Budget continued its activities in the historical mansion on Bornova Gençlik Caddesi, which belongs to the University and was used as the Paper and Book Museum until 2006.
Following Public Financial Management and Control Law No. 5108, which has been entered into force since 2006, the Department of Budget under the administration of the Ministry of Finance was closed. Then, the Directorate of Strategy Development was established instead.

DIRECTORATE OF STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT FROM PAST TO PRESENT
General Information
Following the Public Financial Management and Control Law No. 5018, the Directorate of Strategy Development was established in our University, as in all public administrations, and started its activities and services as of 01.01.2006.
With Law No. 5018, budget, accounting, internal control, strategic planning, annual reports and duties, authorities, and responsibilities related to these transactions are given to the Directorate of Strategy Development.
With the secondary legislation regulations of Law No. 5018, the Directorate of Strategy Development was transformed into sub-units of budget-performance, accounting-final account-reporting, internal control-preliminary financial control, and strategic planning and information management systems.
The Directorate of Strategy Development has been trying to maintain its activities and services effectively and efficiently since 2006 while continuing to structure its organization.
The Directorate of Strategy Development continued its services in the historic mansion where the Budget Department served from 2006 to February 2012.
However, due to the inadequacy of the existing building, a new service building was built in the area where the Rectorate Building is located. Then, the Department started to carry out its activities and services in the new building in February 2012.
